Board of Directors: The governing body of the organization, the Board of Directors is responsible for the ultimate direction of the management of NIC’s affairs. Directors attend two in-person Board meetings per year, actively serve on at least one committee, participate in occasional task forces as requested by the Chair, and attend at least one NIC conference annually. Directors are elected for a three-year term by the incumbent Board of Directors and may not serve more than three consecutive terms. Following a one-year break, Directors are again eligible to serve.
- A Director must be over eighteen (18) years of age at the time of his/her appointment to the Board.
- With the exception of up to three (3) Directors from outside the senior housing and care industry, Directors shall, through position, experience, or otherwise, be knowledgeable regarding, and contribute to, the senior housing and care industry.
- There shall only be one (1) Director from an organization serving on the Board at any time (e.g., there shall never be two (2) or more Directors on the Board who are employed by the same organization).
