Industry effort raises funds to buy much-needed supplies for seniors in Ukraine facing dire consequences as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion and occupation.
(Alexandria, Va.) – Argentum, Health Dimensions Group, American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), and the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC), said the senior living industry raised more than $150,000 as part of an effort to deliver supplies to war-ravaged Ukraine, specifically targeting seniors.
The senior living-associated groups teamed up with CARE to champion a philanthropic effort to raise these funds to help seniors in Ukraine with desperately needed food and shelter.
“These generous contributions will get urgently needed water, food, hygiene kits, and other ongoing support directly to seniors at risk from the hostilities. We are more than proud to have our members and all of the associated groups achieve this successful humanitarian effort,” said James Balda, president and chief executive officer (CEO), Argentum.
The effort will continue as well, he said, and urged senior living communities to spread the word about the campaign by telling families, friends, and anyone in touch with the senior living profession.
Erin Hennessey, CEO of Health Dimensions Group, said, “We are honored to have helped lead this effort and are thrilled to see how our profession came together to support the seniors of Ukraine in their greatest time of need. Thank you to all who donated for showing the world that senior living cares.”
Brian Jurutka, president and CEO, NIC, commented, “NIC is thankful for the contributions made by so many across the senior living industry in the U.S. to help provide humanitarian aid to seniors in the Ukraine. It’s a testament to the care they provide everyday while serving the most vulnerable population among us.”
ASHA President, David Schless, said his group, The American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) was “very pleased to participate in this important campaign and it is our hope that the industry continues to support CARE and other humanitarian organizations providing much-needed aid to older adults in Ukraine in the months ahead.”
