Timothy Buchanan serves as CEO of Legend Senior Living, a privately held company he founded in 2001, dedicated to providing quality housing and services to senior adults. Legend owns and operates 41 Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Nursing Care properties in Florida, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Legend has grown primarily through new development as well as strategic acquisitions.
Mr. Buchanan co-founded Sterling House Corporation in 1990 serving as Chairman and CEO. Sterling completed an initial public offering in 1995 and grew to over 150 AL Residences. The combined companies represented one of the largest assisted living companies in the country, developing and operating approximately 450 residences in over 25 states. Mr. Buchanan served as Vice Chairman and President until 1999 and continued to serve on the Board until 2001. Mr. Buchanan has developed and operated over $1B in new seniors housing residences. Mr. Buchanan currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Argentum, as a member of the National Investment Center (NIC) Operator Advisory Board, and past member of the Executive Board of the American Seniors Housing Association. Mr. Buchanan was the founding Chairman and Board Member of the Senior Living Credentialing Commission. Mr. Buchanan is a member of the Board of Trustees of Mid-America Nazarene University. Mr. Buchanan is a prior recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
